I’m terrible at remembering to drink my water. Embarrassingly bad. I will go a whole day without one sip of life-giving water.
What makes it even worse is that I’m going to boot camp (we’ll have to talk more about that later), so I know my body is incredibly dehydrated after the buckets I sweat during class.
No matter how much my mom reminds me, my sister texts me, or my classmates brag about how water helped them to lose 2 lbs in a week, I forget to drink even one glass.
To remind and motivate myself to drink more. I’ve come up with these creative ways to drink my water:
Buy the fancy water. Treating myself to the fancy Evian, Fiji, and Voss water is a motivator to drink more water. Tap water may be cheaper, but the fancy stuff tastes way better.
Invest in a home water filter. There are many choices of home water filters that you are probably familiar with, such as Brita, Zero (my favorite), and Pur. If you want something more heavy duty or want something for the whole family, without investing in a whole-home system, look into Berkey brand. I’ve read many great reviews around the web about their countertop water purifier.
Flavor it naturally. I love how spas have a big glass pitcher filled with cool water and floating lemon slices, cucumber slices or strawberries. Not only does it look lovely, but it flavors the water ever so slightly. Infusing pitchers make pouring without the splash even easier.
Add some zing on the go. Sometimes plain water can taste blah, especially if it’s not the fancy water. Many people swear by Crystal Light, but fake sugar (aka aspartame) is a big no-no for me. So instead, I use True Lemon Crystallized Fruit (also found at your local grocer) that naturally adds a zingy citrus flavor and vitamin C without the funky fake sugar or artificial flavors.
Glam up the water bottle. I’m currently using this glass water bottle that I found at Target. These etched glass water bottles on Etsy are super cute too. Of course, you can never go wrong with an old-fashioned mason jar. I’ve seen many moms around town toting those.
Get creative with ice cubes. I was thinking of dressing up my ice cubes by putting some mint leaves in the tray before freezing. Or instead, I can use frozen grapes or watermelon wedges as ice cubes.
So those are the ways I’m going to make drinking water a more pleasurable experience.
