Pamper Your Feet Smooth

by Lydia Poblano

Rough, scaly, dry heels…is there anything uglier than that? Well perhaps toe hair but that’s another post… Feet that have callused, dry skin can be difficult to treat, but fret not! Smooth heels are just a peel, wrap and a rub away away!

  • Peel: Usually when you want to smooth your rough feet the first thing that comes to mind is to scrub them with a pumice stone or file. But for exceptionally thick skin your going to want something that can penetrate deeper, like a professional peel.  I really like H2T Hand & Foot Therapy Pumpkin Peel (affiliate link) because it works so incredibly well and it smells amazing. Using it is super simple. Just apply a thin film over the callused skin, wait about 5 min, then rinse off. That’s it!

This is the ONLY time I will recommend a professional peel at home. Professional peels can do a heck of a lot of damage if not used correctly, however the skin on the feet is so thick it is not likely to damage the skin.

  • Wrap: Next, your tootsies need some intense moisturization. Apply some yummy foot cream like Barielle’s (affiliate link), shea butter or even olive oil on your freshly exfoliated feet, cover with a clean plastic bag (get a couple extra from the produce section next time your grocery shopping) then slip your covered feet into warmed spa booties (affiliate link) like these lavender filled ones from Sonoma Lavender. When the booties have cooled you feet will be heavenly soft!
  • Rub: Inbetween peels rub an exfoliating foot cream nightly to keep calluses and dry skin at bay. I was sent a sample of Exuviance Heel Repair (affiliate link)and I was impressed immediate results. It definitely made dry skin disappear and after a few nights of using it my heels were smoother. If the exfoliating foot cream proves to be too much, use the thick foot cream from your wrap instead.

On a side note…don’t use any exfoliating products on broken skin and avoid sun exposure when using products with exfoliating acids as they make your skin more sensitive to the sun.

How do you like to pamper your feet?
