It’s that time again! Time to share with you my results so far with losing weight eating wholesome, full fat foods with a healthy dose of exercise. I just had my measurements taken and I was astonished. In four months I’ve lost a total of 30″, 2 dress sizes and have lowered my body fat by a whopping 13%! Check out my before and after photos so far…
But more importantly, I’m feeling so much more fit. Being able to run, sprint, squat, jump rope and keep up with my little guys feels SO good. And being able to get rid of clothes because they fit too big feels pretty darn good too!
Okay so one with my very best tips to maximize results:
- Quality Protein Powder– Some people are afraid to drink a protein smoothie for fear that it will bulk them up, but let me assure you that a quality protein powder will not. Protein will help to feed your muscles (which means more fat burning even when your resting), and helps to strengthen and tighten your skin from within. Choose a whey or egg white protein powder that has been cold processed and naturally sweetened with Stevia. I like Jay Robb’s Whey Protein in Vanilla.
- The Right Shoes- I really didn’t think I needed a new pair of tennis shoes, but my hubby who is a runner insisted. I’m so glad he did. At the shop I had a professional assess my running and hook me up with shoes that would help support my weak ankles. So no matter if it’s salsa dancing, step aerobics, walking or boot camp like me, invest in a quality pair of shoes that will support and prevent injuries. I bought my shoes at Snails Pace Running Shop in Brea, Ca.
- Heart Rate Monitor- Whether your goal is heart health or fat burning, you won’t know which one you’re actually doing until you measure your heart rate (read more about that here). Using a heart rate monitor is an easy way to check if you’re in your target zone. I like my Mio Heart Rate Monitor Watch because it also tells me how many calories I’ve burned.
- Search Deeper– As I’m losing weight, I’ve noticed a very strange thing. Though I can see with the measuring tape and photo’s that I certainly have lost weight, sometimes when I look in the mirror I don’t see it. Clearly there is some sort of disconnect. Something in my body image and relationship with food that is making me blind to my results. This has been on my mind quit a bit. I’ve found a couple of books that deal with these sort of issues: The Gabriel Method and I Can Make You Thin. I’ve put them on my Amazon wish list for my December vacation reading.
So there you have it! Everything that I’m doing to get my bombshell back!
