December is always a time of year when I have to “tighten my belt” a wee bit more. With Alfalfa’s birthday (tomorrow!), my wedding anniversary (the 15th), Christmas and my birthday close by in January, finding super cheap (read: free) beauty tricks is a must if I want to keep up the glam. Here are my top no-cost beauty tricks that really work:
I’m really bad at sleeping my required 7 hours. Like, really bad. Sometimes I sleep less than 5 hours! But I soon as I sleep a luxurious 7 hours, even just 3 times a week, I immediately see a difference in my skin and mood.
Use a hot towel
If you’ve ever had a facial (and if you haven’t, girl, we gotta talk) or have seen you’re man get a professional shave, then you’re probably familiar with the hot towel on the face. Hot towels not only are used to prepare the skin for deep cleansing, but also they are great at killing bacteria that’s trapped under the skin (read: infected blemish). Great for those teen breakouts too.
How-to: wet a clean hand towel (without fabric softener) in warm water and place in a slow cooker on low for about 30 min. When it’s nice and steamy, carefully take it out and test the temp on your inner wrist or cheek. When it’s comfortably hot, wrap the around your face, leaving an opening in the middle for your nose. Voila!
Try spritzing yourself with 2 or more of your fragrances to create a whole new, lovely scent that’s all you! Just remember that this usually works best when you mix scents that are in the same fragrance family (like citrus family or floral family)
Keep your hands to yourself
An odd suggestion for sure, but with all the dirt, grease and germs we pick up on our hands, keeping our them away from our face and hair is sound advice. Dirty hands can lead to breakouts and irritation on our faces and greasy hair too.
Bring out the hair gadgets
We all have them in the bottom cabinet in the bathroom just collecting dust. Those hot rollers, curling irons, and flat irons that never get any use. Why not take those babies out and discover a new fun way to style your hair for the holidays!
