After years of silence, I’m writing again. But with a new purpose. To help single moms get ahead.
After sharing my story of how I became a single mother of four to family, friends and here on the blog, I was overwhelmed with the support.
So there I was, content with my decision, feeling fully supported, settling into our new routine and looking for the next step.
The next step was college. I wrote about how curiously came to that decision on Instagram.
It’s a pretty ambitious thing to do…having 4 kids, homeschooling and finishing my psych degree to then earn my MBA. Though it is incredibly tough, I’m completely focused and driven.
Soon people began to take notice. Especially other parents that found themselves in the same situation of divorce or separation.
They asked everything from how to begin the divorce process to how to thrive in spite of the circumstances. My purpose (in addition to securing a future for me and the rascals) started to become more clear.
I could help single moms.
Exactly how I would do that on the blog still remained unclear until I got an email from the Helpful Honda Guys. They asked me if I could spread the word of the places they would be doing helpful things.
What sort of helpful things? Well in this case they were at the Rose Bowl. They washed cars, passed out sunscreen and hand sanitizer, picked up trash…little things that made a big difference.
So that got me to thinking what little thing I could do to make a big difference in a single moms life.
I could write her resume. For free.
Thus began the new purpose for TheVintageMama.com.
